I discovered Saturday’s reviews on YouTube and found them knowledgeable, factual and entertaining. Plus, I have learned SO MUCH about fueling and hydration. So, I decided to give the app a try. I’m a non-competitive runner with 10ks and Halfs my primary races, and I have found this app invaluable when it’s time to prepare my hydration and fuel for my training runs. It isn’t just for elite athletes. Are there things that could be improved or functionalities that could be added? Yes. But given this is more of a home-grown app AND it’s relatively inexpensive, I am more than willing to overlook those missing “nice to haves.”

This is the best fueling investment I’ve ever made, and I don’t know what took me so long to write this review. Saturday takes the guesswork out of having the right amount of fuel for a ride. The support provided for any issues you may encounter is second to none. I can’t recommend this product enough to anyone struggling (or not) with proper fueling.
I love this app. It works well and is clean and simple. I bet it has already saved me a hundred dollars just in one training block and race by not buying gels. I have used it for ultramarathon training and race day execution. It has really helped solve the nutrition puzzle for me. I used to get cramps and lag in energy at later stages. But for my last race when I followed the advice from the app, I felt great the entire race and didn’t have any cramps.
I use it for every long workout and it’s a super easy way to know how much I need to take in during a ride. My recovery has improved a ton since using this and I am much better able to make endurance gains off of my long rides since I am hydrated and fueled properly.
I’m not a racer but my friends and I go on long spirited bike rides. 60-80 miles, maybe 18mph. I have to fuel. The Saturday speed nectar enables much stronger finishes, when I manage to execute them pers recommendations. It’s often logistically difficult and I’m working on flavor aids, strong hibiscus tea is good.

The Saturday app has been a great tool for dialing in my fueling during training. It breaks down exactly what I need in a clear, practical way that’s easy to follow—even during long workouts. The automatic sync with TrainingPeaks is a big plus. My workouts load automatically and the app builds a fueling plan around each session, so there’s nothing I have to enter manually. If you’re training seriously and want a simple, reliable way to plan your fueling, this app does an excellent job.
Using the app has dialed in my fueling perfectly and if I vary on the low side of carb intake, I pay the price. I've seen a significant change in how I feel on 40+ mile bike rides from before.
Easy to use! Good integration with TP so all my workouts are already there, I just put in my best guess on how sweaty I'll be and it can tell me my fueling needs. Also love that once I add some of my custom products it'll use those to subtract from my fueling needs. Great way to save money on sports nutrition!
While the app wasn't quite what I was looking for, I can see it being great for the right people. So why 5 stars? Because when I had questions, I got answers quickly. Plus, unlike some apps out there, Saturday isn't a "gotcha" deal that charges you when your trial ends. These are honest folks who want to help people do their best. This app is definitely worth a look.
I LOVE the Saturday app... I use it every day and have planned everything from the Hotter N Hell 100 in August to my daily training rides... I used to always be worried about bonking or getting cramps... Saturday eliminates that and saves me money as well! Highly recommend!
Game Changer - no more gels, no more leg cramp or GI distress and feel like I can run so much better with speed nectar. I discovered it through the YouTube channel, and so glad I did. I now realise all the issues I blamed on not enough training were mostly hypoglycemia. The tips on caffeine intake have been especially useful and just buzzed me through a 50k feeling fantastic.

Very enlightening. I wish I had known this information many years ago when I was running marathons and triathlons. it completely simplified what I need to carry when i'm training. I feel like I went around the world several times and it just boils down to sodium citrate and sugar. I highly recommend the app and the videos.
Very useful for managing training and competition nutrition
This app is super helpful in figuring out your nutrition. It lays it all out in easy to understand measurements and has been a great aid in sorting out what I need for all my runs. I will not go back to running without it.
I wish it had a family plan. Paying 3 subscriptions for one household doesn't feel right. And for the features it has at the moment, it's a somewhat steep price. Aside from that, it's a decent way to experiment with creating drinks that are supposedly optimized for the activity you'll be doing. Recently, an option to sync with Training peaks was added. I wish it synced with Strava and intervals too.
App is suggesting 0 everything regardless of settings - even a 10/10 sweaty 3 hour VO2 max session (just to confirm it's broken - not my real session)?

The knowledge and care that has gone into this app is unreal. I know most endurance athletes aren’t as knowledgeable about fueling as they would like and this app meets you where you are. I think it’s a web app or something, native would’ve been nicer but you barely notice.
Amazing for calculating fuel! I'm a slow runner, so I'm out doing 7 hr marathons. This works so well for figuring out my fuel. Definitely not just for elite athletes, I'm just a regular runner that mainly does Disney races and this has been so helpful.

Hard to believe how simply pantry items can help with training. No GI distress following the recipes for ALL my rides. Amazing how I’m know able to complete tougher workouts with less breaks. At the end of 3 hour outdoor sessions, I don’t feel drained like before when I used the expensive fuels.

This app is amazing! At 1st, I figured I didn't need this app but I was curious instead. Last year, based on my calculations, I ran out of fluids with 25% of my bike race to go. I felt awful, crampy, nauseous This year, I used the Saturday app and my fluids were just right! I did not have any stomach issues or cramps and I was able to do a fast and furious finish (which I couldn't do last year). I then won my age group and came in 7th woman. I really wish this was around when I ran my first marathon years ago. I'm now training for a 25k trail race and this really makes a difference in me feeling like death and feeling good. Also- amazingly easy to use.

This has been a game changer for me as an endurance athlete. Gels don’t always sit well and/or the logistics of opening a packet and squeezing it in my mouth while running don’t always work. I also sometimes struggled with getting enough calories especially on the bike when I don’t want to fumble with packets. Using Saturday has made me feel stronger and my training go better with giving me exactly what I need! I also don’t feel as wiped out after long run and bike workouts because I am getting in what my body needs. I love the option to add my own products and make it tasty for me. If you are an endurance athlete you need this app! It will change your training for the better!

Amazing app and info from Saturday crew on their YouTube videos. I have been an outdoor enthusiast/athlete for most of my adult life and Triathlete, the last 10 years. Saturday app has helped me deliver better training sessions using science. I've known for a long time that I sweat far more and with far higher sodium content than most people. I didn't know though how much I was lacking in my hydration and sodium needs on those long, hot training sessions until I began using and trusting the app to guide me. The trust has built over time and by observing the improvements in performance and how I feel during and after my training sessions. I feel like I've done my last Ironman event where I'll be wasting time in excessive pitstops resulting from insufficient fueling.
Must admit, this makes fueling for training/racing super straightforward. Just finished a marathon training block and had success following Saturday’s recommendations throughout. I use this and their sugar/salt water recommendations for short/easy runs and supplement with other more portable fuels (gels/drinks) as needed for longer efforts. Works like a charm and requires no thinking.
Makes fueling a ride a simple. Answer a few setup questions when you first use the app then just input the duration and intensity and how hot your ride is going to be and it tells you how much carbs, salt and water to take. Then you either make up your own mix, supplement with products or go completely with 3rd party products - the app does the math for you. Simple, which means you’ll use it. You’ll be pleasantly suprised how much better you feel if you fuel appropriately.
Took me a while to trust the recipes. Their recommendations kept me riding longer without bonking - it works.
Saturday helped me understand and improve my fueling needs. Following the apps suggestions, I was able to finish my latest 200K stronger and with less residual fatigue the next day. 4 stars, because I think the app lacks some basic functionality, like the option of presenting the recipe recommendation in bottle sizes. Currently it only shows in liters of water.

This app has really help me understand just how much energy I need to get through a ride. You can fairly easily add 10's of miles to your rides when fueling properly. I am a little wary of drinking so much sugar. Good thing they have so many products built in you an sub and it is really easy to add your own custom items. This makes it super easy to bring along all the carbs I need in other forms so I can reduce my table sugar intake.
I think the app is extremely smart / helpful. The UI is a little quirky but not hard to use. I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re an endurance athlete especially.
I love how simple this makes things. Stop wasting money on super fancy sports drinks. Go to Costco, get a 5-pound bag of sugar. Go to Amazon, order a bag of sodium citrate. That is all you need. Table sugar is 1:1 ratio of glucose to fructose. Maurten gels are .9:1 - so pretty much just plain sugar. But, if they admitted that, they wouldn't make money. Take the guesswork out. Put some water in a blender, weigh out the suggested amounts of sodium and sugar with a food scale, blend it up. Use this to make a bottle or two of concentrated fuel. Then, simply supplement with additional bottles of plain water to reach targets.
Awesome app and flawless experience using it. However, for someone like me who is an occasional weekend endurance athlete, the price is a little steep for 4-6 uses a month for something I can do by hand in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe consider a limited use pricing structure in the future?
I’ve been doing tri’s for 15 years. Have bought every gadget/gizmo they have come out with. This app and the inexpensive fuel recommendations that you make for your workouts are life changing! I just completed my first half distance race doing the “Saturday Way” and literally did not feel like myself b/c I had so much strength on the second half of the bike and run and most importantly ZERO cramping issues. Thanks to Dr Alex for putting this together.. truly the standard by which fueling recommendation excellence should be measured!

Saturday has helped me realize how much I was underfueling for longer rides. As a heavy sweater and person who cramps all the time, found huge benefits from the sodium recommendations. (The team is right, cheap sodium citrate in my bottle with my carb mix tastes way better than table salt). Would highly recommend for research backed fueling made easy!

Amazing app! Really streamlined the process of preparing a drink for my long runs, and I actually improved my performance. Turned out I was well underfueled most of my runs. Also if you're using some branded products, it's all in the app, you can add it and it will adjust everything else that you need. Really useful!

This is a simple fueling app for endurance athletes and quickly provides diy fuel and hydration blends using simply sugar, water, and salt. I also appreciate the database of commercially available fueling products if I want to consume more than the simple ingredients in my cupboard. The fueling as been pretty spot on after 2 months of IM training.
Not only does this help with trying to figure out how and when to hydrate. It's also shows you the electrolytes you need and a way to save money. Great App.

I’ve been using Saturday Morning for about four weeks and it’s greatly improved my triathlon performance. I was completely under fueling in training and races. Recently ran an Olympic & 70.3 and followed the Saturday Morning fueling recommendations. I felt much better throughout both races and I can attribute that to being better hydrated and fueled. I love how the app gives you the ability to use your fuel/hydration and it will tell you if you’re good or need more. In addition, using the Speed Nectar recommendations has been so easy and saves a ton on money. If you’re an endurance athlete you really need to try this app. It will change how you fuel and hydrate in a positive way.

I have been using for several months and it has helped my training and racing performance in triathlons. The ap is easy to use and I recommend trying it out. After reducing my fueling dramatically trying to figure out some allergies, I’d gotten accustomed to no/low but really frustrated by low energy availability. I needed help getting my fueling back on track for 70.3 races. Saturday has helped me do that using a combination of sports products I’ve purchased and things from the kitchen. So far my workouts feel better! (I do think that eventually I’ll be able to figure this out on my own, but right now I need this guidance and reminder).

The hardest part about triathlon has been planning race nutrition and hydration given the events are so long and the products so varied in content. Even having the background of a physiology and MD degree, the product web sites and directions are insufficient to figure out how to meet energy, sodium, and fluid needs with the available products. This app can solve those problems an infinite variety of ways while helping insure you won’t create a disaster pants solution. Nice work!

Im an experienced triathlete, always looking to improve performance so after hearing about the Saturday app on the Slowtwitch website, I was intrigued. After downloading the app I was mildly surprised at just how easy it was to use. The guided step by step process unravels and uncomplicates fueling for training and racing in each of the 3 triathlon segments. What is especially useful about the app is that it is specific and customizable for each workout you do. It even factors in weather.
This app is really great and I’m so glad something exists that doesn’t force you to use specific products. I’m really trying to dial in my nutrition and this has been so incredibly helpful.

Works awesome. I'm not ready to completely ditch my purchased fuel, but this app does zero in on what's missing (hint, it's sodium) using that app as my guide I've managed to avoid cramping that has plagued me for a while. Ends up I just needed a little more sodium. The app helps get that dialed in for each day based on me, the activity, length and the weather. It's going to be a key factor in my success at Unbound.

I’ve been a triathlete for a couple years but a longtime athlete. I’ve never ‘really’ fueled for training or competition beyond a water bottle and some gel packets. Since using the app, training has been so much better. It’s easy to use and intuitive. It’s such an odd thing, I got so used to feeling like crap after training that I thought it was just inevitable. Since fueling properly the fear of feeling like crap is still there, but the feeling like crap isn’t.
Great app for all of your fueling needs. Takes away all of the guess work, either for training or an event. Also offers a great database of products or gives you the option to explore and find other products that might be a better fit based on your need. 5 stars all the way around!

Before using Saturday, I wasn’t sure how to fuel appropriately, and now I feel confident about the recommendations I am receiving because they’ve worked over hundreds of varied training sessions (e.g., recovery, interval, tempo, VO2 max runs, rides, and swims). No longer do I have to do the mental math of figuring out my carb, sodium, and water intake for long group rides and long rides on the trainer. All I have to do is tell it the duration and effort level and it gives me the total carb/sodium/water amounts to bring and conveniently lets me add my favorite flavor of blue Gatorade powder for flavor.
Before using this app I was seriously underdueling. Even using expensive products like Maurten, I just wasn’t taking in enough(probably due to cost). Now just using sugar, sodium citrate, and water I have never fealt better during and after training sessions and it has been reflected in my performance. This app has totally changed the way I fuel and I couldn’t be happier!!
